athenahealth engaged ReviveHealth in 2013 as healthcare PR agency of record, to guide them in telling a bigger story about the future of connected care, interoperability, and the company’s mission to become a national health information backbone. In addition, athenahealth wanted to break into new publications and events where it could more effectively reach key healthcare decision-makers.

ReviveHealth designed a comprehensive thought leadership program in partnership with the athenahealth communications team around core strategic business priorities, focusing efforts on healthcare media, speaking engagements, awards, and integrated campaigns.

Media & Awards

In 2015, the team’s results nearly doubled the original target, securing more than 440 media hits, coordinating 66 athenahealth executive media interviews and 29 provider client media interviews, and placing 20 original op-eds. The team also earned a 62% win/finalist rate for all awards submitted in 2015.

Speakers’ Bureau

HIMSS is one of athenahealth’s most important events; in 2015, ReviveHealth secured 17 briefings (before, during, and after the event) and generated 26 media placements, including coverage in Modern Healthcare, HealthLeaders, Becker’s Health IT & CIO Review, and HealthcareDive. Further, ReviveHealth led in the development of six submissions for HIMSS 2016, and was accepted for the exclusive Views from the Top series, which is capped at 1,000 attendees.

Customer Advocate Building

Given an increasing scrutiny from industry and business media on “vendor” perspectives, as well as limitations from many events on who can speak, ReviveHealth worked with athenahealth to identify a core group of enthusiastic customer voices who could serve as partners for media and speakerships, and works closely with athenahealth to ensure message consistency.

Integrated & Social Campaigns

To complement this core thought leadership program, ReviveHealth also partners with athenahealth on broader campaigns and integrated marketing communications programs, including the recent #LetDoctorsBeDoctors movement, which engaged more than 6 million people in a conversation about caregivers’ EHR usability frustrations.
